Deputies Learn Israeli Combat Training

Instructor Robert Amos from Indianapolis' Israeli Krav Maga taught hand-to-hand combat techniques to members of law enforcement Saturday.

Approximately 30 police officers and deputies attended the two-day training on their own time without pay. The session was sponsored by the Illinois Crime Commission and Will County State's Attorney James Glasgow.

In this video, Will County Deputy Bob Dymek takes his turn being in the center of a circle of would-be attackers. In this exercise, the participants practiced defending different types of knife attacks.

"I'm a patrol deputy, so you come across all kinds of drug-induced people to mentally unstable, so you never know," Dymek said, explaining why the Krav Maga techniques were helpful.
