Emergency Motion Filed in Drew Peterson Murder Case — Update!

An emergency motion to "limit electronic communication" was filed Wednesday in the Drew Peterson murder case and will be argued during a hearing Friday.

The motion was impounded and its contents are not available for the press or public to view.

Charles B. Pelkie, the spokesman for State's Attorney James Glasgow's office, declined to comment on the text of the motion but did say it pertains to procedural matters.

Peterson, a 58-year-old disgraced former Bolingbrook cop, faces charges he killed his third wife, Kathleen Savio. He is also the sole suspect in the investigation of the , but faces no criminal charges in that matter.

Drew Peterson's self-proclaimed "lead attorney," Joel Brodsky, had earlier speculated that electronic communication conducted by a juror might end up getting his client sprung on technicality.

"That would be ripe grounds for a mistrial, for throwing out a conviction or an acquittal, and we'd have to go through the process all over again," Brodsky said in a Wall Street Journal story.

Brodsky failed to return calls for comment Thursday.

Judge Edward Burmila will hear arguments on the motion at 4 p.m. on Friday.
