Cops: Drunken liar arrested

A Plainfield man who lied to the law last month was picked up on a warrant when a person driving the car he was riding in was spotted without a seat belt, police said.

Byron Davis, 26, of 23616 Feeney Drive was arrested shortly before 7 p.m. at the BP gas station on Jefferson Street.

The car Davis was riding in was pulled over after an alert cop noticed the driver was not wearing a seat belt, police said.

The police then reportedly realized Davis was wanted in Will County on a charge of driving under the influence and in Chicago on a charge of disorderly conduct.

And to top it off, the Shorewood police slapped Davis with a charge of their own, hitting him with obstructing justice for allegedly lying about his name when they arrested one of his acquaintances on July 22.

Davis was with Chadi Dabbouseh, 23, of 8226 Tremont Lane in Joliet when Dabbouseh was arrested on a theft warrant in connection with a case investigated by the Will County Sheriff's Department, police said.

Davis evaded arrest by lying about his identity, police said, but the Shorewood cops figured it out in the meantime and took him into custody when they ran into him again.
