Girls Robbed at Gunpoint Near Joliet Theater: Police

The girls were in their car about to leave the theater parking lot when a man with a gun approached, police said.

Joliet police said two young women were robbed Wednesday while leaving the Cinemark movie theater at the Louis Joliet mall, WJOL reported.

The incident happened at about 8:25 p.m. after the girls were already in their car, police said.

A Hispanic male with dark hair and a goatee reportedly opened the car door and put a gun to the driver's thigh, WJOL reported.

The suspect then told the girls to give him their money and cell phones and ordered them not to call police. The thief left on foot with their cell phones, according to WJOL.

Last August, a woman reported she was mugged in the parking lot near the theater when two men pushed her to the ground and stole her purse and cell phone.
