Hack Attack? Shorewood Woman Allegedly Beats, Robs Cabbie

A local woman's alleged bid to ripoff a cabbie ended badly for her after she made her escape into the house the driver had just taken her to, police said.

A Shorewood woman woke from a drunken slumber and attacked and robbed a cabdriver before retreating inside her home, said.

Jillian Saxen, 52, of 310 Arrowhead Drive was charged with robbery, aggravated battery, and resisting or obstructing a peace officer in connection with the alleged early morning caper outside her house.

Prior to her arrest, Saxen was passed out in the back of a taxi that ferried her to her home rom the Joliet tavern Hammers, police said.

When the taxi reached her residence and the female driver tried to rouse Saxen, the Shorewood woman turned violent, police said, and assaulted the cabbie.

After attacking the driver, Saxen grabbed a GPS unit, a few bucks in change and a compact disc before fleeing the cab and taking refuge inside her house, police said.

The driver called the cops, police said, and officers found Saxen and the stolen property inside the Arrowhead Drive residence.

Saxen was taken to the police station to be processed but while an officer was trying to fingerprint her she became unruly, police said. She was then transported to the Will County jail.

Police released no information on any statements from Saxen, or whether she made a taxicab confession.
