Home Cut Donuts Robbed by Masked Man

The suspect put employees in a closet before making off with an undisclosed amount of cash from the Joliet business.

A masked bandit made off with an undisclosed amount of cash from Home Cut Donuts, Joliet Police Chief Brian Benton said.

The suspect, described as a black man wearing a ski mask, blue jeans and dark jacket and boots, entered the 815 W. Jefferson St. business at about 6 a.m. Dec. 30 and demanded the clerk give him all of the cash in the register, Benton said. He implied he had a weapon in his pocket but never displayed it, he said.

He then rounded up the employees, put them in a closet in the rear of the building and told them not to come out, he said.

The incident was captured on videotape and was observed by a customer who was in his car outside the store, Benton said.
