Hot Dog Catches Frankfort Man Cruelty Case in Joliet

A man was charged with animal cruelty for allegedly leaving a dog locked in his car in the 93-degree heat.

A Frankfort man allegedly left a dog locked in a car parked outside the Will County Courthouse during Wednesday's sweltering heatwave.

Nicholas Reems, 31, of 20138 Frankfort Square Road was charged with cruelty to an animal shortly after 4 p.m. outside the downtown courthouse.

An officer was sent to 14 W. Jefferson St. to investigate a complaint of a dog left in a parked car. The dog had been left in the car for at least 15 minutes and the temperature at the time was 93 degrees, police said.
