Minooka police chief Justin Meyer issued a news release Monday that could lead to help for flood victims in Will, Grundy and Kendall counties.

Meyer said the three counties have been declared disaster areas by Governor Quinn as a result of the flooding that took place over a wide region last week. Meyer said officials from Illinois and FEMA are working to develop a damage assessement of the floods in Will, Grundy and Kendall counties.

He said this includes determing the extent of damage to private property and public infrastructure.
