A Joliet postal carrier was robbed of his iPhone and $13 when a man threatened him with a gun while he was delivering mail Thursday afternoon in the St. Pat's neighborhood.
The victim told Joliet police that he was confronted by the suspect while at a residence in the 0 to 100 block of North Cagwin Avenue at about 1:40 p.m., Cmdr. Al Roechner said.
He described the suspect as a slender black man standing about 6 feet tall and weighing about 180 pounds, Roecher said. He had short braids and was wearing a black hat and a jacket with yellow and green words.
Police were able to use one of the the iPhone's apps to trace and recover the device in an area near McDonough and Monroe streets, where it had been placed inside a sock and thrown away, Roechner said.
