Truck Driver Charged In I-55 Crash That Killed 4

Man Hiding Cocaine in His Pants Busted for Selling Drugs: Cops

Joliet police initially stopped Eric Gates because his passenger had an outstanding warrant, but quickly discovered they'd nabbed a much larger fish, Cmdr. Rich Demick said.

You can drive away or run away but it's unlikely you'll t get away, as two misguided criminal suspects discovered Thursday.

Eric L. Gates, 33, of Chicago, was pulled over by police at about 8:15 p.m. when an officer observed the passenger in Gate's car and determined she was wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant, Joliet Police Cmdr. Rich Demick said.

Gates stopped momentarily in the 900 block of Jefferson Street but when his passenger, Gailyn L. Davis, hopped out of the car and took off on foot, Gates decided to hit the gas and flee, Demick said.

Neither got very far. Davis, 25, who lists addresses of 618 Briggs St. and 1118 Parkwood Drive, both in Joliet, was apprehended just a few yards away and Gates made it to Jefferson and William streets.

Police were in for an even bigger surprise when they observed that Gates "kept reaching toward the waistband of his pants" and discovered he was hiding a small bag filled with crack cocaine, six small bags of cocaine, several Xanax pills and a small amount of cannabis, Demick said.

Gates was charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance, possession of cannabis, fleeing/attempting to elude a police officer, resisting/obstructing a peace officer and attempting to obstruct justice.

Gates is being held in the Will County jail in lieu of $30,000 bond, records show.

Davis warrant stemmed from her failure to appear in court on charges of prostitution, possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia for which she was arrested in January 2012. She was also arrested for prostitution in 2008 and 2009, jail records show.

Davis is being held in the county jail. No information on her bond was available.

Funny thing is 500 people with drugs in their cars probably drove by..lol..war on drugs is a waste of money..from local governments to federal governments....Nation after Nation has legalized posession of drugs...and what happened? Prisons were shut down, drug violence has almost stopped, cities, town, states have made millions not spend trillions to stop something they never will.heroin and meth are almost not used,..theft,robbery,murder crimes to get drugs is almost gone..I watched a documentary where a man stole, robbed, held up,snuck into everywhere he could to get Subutex in Finland..he stole enough to go to France where they give Subutex for free with needles while there for a month he did not rob, steal, holdup, broke into any where or anyone....he didn't have to..when he went back to Finland where it is illegal he started to steal, rob, holdup and broke into everyplace he could to get Subutex....a pharmaceutical drug...not natural....all of this to get a pill that is manufactured by a company...sure this man went to jail but there are 300 people ready to replace him....the next day.

Added up probably about $500 worth of stuff..lol and now let's add up the overtime, how many officers assisted that will be paid for? housing him, feeding him, court time,transporting,..if he gets prison..that's $42,000 per inmate....then if he gets transferred to another prison the money does not go with him...so that's another $42,000 after 30 days....does he have kids? If so the state now has to pick up the bill, you can bet the mother will be filing for assistance....the hooker will continue to hook when she bails out,..we try to stop people from ding things like this in order to create the world in an image that we see but in that process we ignore how the world really is..and this..is how it is...
