Missing Man's Last Communication Came From Near Shorewood

Family members say there has still been no sign of 55-year-old William Foley, who was reported missing Feb. 6 after he didn't return home from work.

Nearly a week after his disappearance, there are still no signs of Downers Grove resident William Foley—leading his family to question whether he has been the victim of foul play.

Foley, 55, was last seen around 1 p.m. on Feb. 6, when he was leaving his job in Lombard, police said. His family reported him missing when he didn't return home.

Downers Grove police issued an alert Friday afternoon with a picture of Foley and a description of his vehicle, a white 1997 Ford Escort with Illinois license plate 9985772.

On Tuesday, police told Foley's brother, Jim, that there has been no cell phone, I-Pass, bank or credit card activity since he was reported missing. The last indication of his whereabouts came from a cell phone ping around 2 p.m. Wednesday near I-55 and Route 52 in Shorewood, Jim said.

Police and members of the Foley family searched the area throughout the weekend for signs of William's car but found nothing.

"We are in touch with the detectives every day, but it's been really frustrating for all of us. There just aren't any leads right now," Jim said.

The night before William disappeared, he celebrated the 22nd birthday of his daughter, Caitlyn. His wife, Vickie, told police he didn't say or do anything to indicate he was planning to leave, Jim said.

Foley, a former Marine, works at an IT company in Lombard. He grew up in Lisle, where his mother resides, but has lived in Downers Grove for more than 20 years.

He has six siblings, including Jim.

"Bill is a quiet, normal guy," Jim said. "He went to work, came home, played games on the computer and spent all his free time with his wife and daughter."

Jim said he is still holding out hope for his brother's safe return but is growing concerned that foul play was involved.

"The police are investigating every possible angle—his work, his computer, his house—and there's just no indication that he planned to leave," Jim said. "This is completely out of character for Bill, and I think that's why we're all so concerned."

William Foley is described as 5-foot-7, 195 pounds, with brownish-gray hair and blue eyes.

The family has set up the Facebook page "Help Find Bill Foley" to share updates, photos and news articles.

Anyone with information on Foley's whereabouts is asked to contact the Downers Grove Police Department at 630 434-5600 or 911 to verify his well being.
