New Sheriff In Town: Shorewood Police Blotter

The Shorewood cops got a new chief, but they didn't skip a beat in running down out-of-towners tooling around without such things as rear registration lights and valid licenses.

Driving while from Joliet

A Jolietan with an allegedly bad rear registration light ran afoul of Shorewood's finest.

Demetrius Quinn, 56, of 102 Stryker Ave. was pulled over shortly after midnight near the intersection of Route 59 and Route 52 "after officers observed the vehicle Quinn was driving did not have a registration light," police said.

Quinn was ticketed for the allegedly missing light and arrested on a charge of driving while license revoked.

Sept. 15

Hey look, another Joliet guy

A Joliet man failed to signal a lane change and — after the cops pulled him over — turned out to be holding some unspecified illegal drugs, police said.

Edward Konopasek, 24, of 512 Kungs Way was taken into custody about 7:30 p.m. near the intersection of Route 52 and Houbolt Road.

Konopasek was charged with possession of a controlled substance and driving while license suspended. He also took a ticket for allegedly failing to signal when he changed lanes.

Driving while from Wilmington

A random license plate check performed on a Wilmington driver led to the out-of-towner's arrest.

Daryl Dunn, 46, of 34205 S. Lakeside Terrace was arrested about 1 a.m. at the BP station on East Jefferson Street.

Dunn was charged with driving while license suspended.

Sept. 11

Local man apprehended

Officers "responding to an incident in the area" of the East Jefferson Street trailer park collared a local man wanted in Aurora, police said.

Jacob Wassner, 23, of 106 E. Jefferson St. was taken into custody about 4:30 p.m. either inside or near his home.

Wassner was wanted in Aurora on a warrant charging him with assault.

The police failed to provide any details about the mystery "incident" that led them to the trailer park in the first place.

Sept. 9

Bolingbrook man caught in Shorewood

A Bolingbrook man driving through Shorewood with a broken tail light turned out to have quite a bit of marijuana in his car, police said.

Juan Cantu, 35, of 414 Wellington Lane was arrested shortly before 8:30 p.m. on the Interstate 55 Frontage Road.

Cantu was jailed on charges of possession of cannabis with intent to deliver, possession of cannabis, driving without insurance, and having a broken tail light.
