Police Blotter: Teens, Drugs and Secret Stashes/April 2

Shorewood bagged seven people this week, four of whom were teens.

March 23

Secret Stash

Police said a Shorewood teen was pulled over for a traffic violation on the corner of Del Webb and Wynstone Drive around 2:30 a.m., when officers allegedly discovered a secret stash. Jacob R Gajcak, 18, of 712 Dover Way, was charged with possession of controlled substance, possession of marijuana under 30 grams, possession of drug equipment, unlawful use of a hidden compartment and speeding. He was taken to the county jail.

March 24

Alleged child sex exploiter turns himself in

An Evergreen Park man turned himself in to Shorewood Police. Will County issued an arrest warrant for Lawrence J. Nemec, 57, of 8756 S. Francisco Ave., Evergreen Park. He is accused of sexual exploitation of a child. Nemec posted bond and was released with a court date.

Teen in Trouble

A 16-year-old male was taken into custody in the 300 block of Arrowhead Drive. Charges included no valid driver’s license and criminal trespass to property. He was given a court date and released to a parent.

March 25

Same guy, two counties, multiple warrants

Two counties were looking for him. Shorewood finally got him. Thomas B. Wendell, 44, of 194 Sanez Lane, Joliet turned himself in to the Shorewood Police Department. Several warrants out of Will and Kankakee counties had been issued for him. Warrants included unlawful use of credit card and aggravated identity theft/fraud charges. Wendell posted bond on all charges and was released with court dates.

March 26

Secret Stash II

Two days after an 18-year-old Shorewood resident was charged with unlawful use of a hidden compartment, police accused a second teen of the same thing.

Just after midnight, two Joliet 18-year-olds got arrested at the Taco Bell.

Warren D. Granzow, 18, of 1517 Ridge Brook Drive, was charged with possession of a controlled substance, drug equipment, hypodermic syringes and the unlawful use of a hidden compartment.  

John D. Seego, 18, of 1222 Laura Kriss Court, Joliet, was charged with possession of drug equipment. Both posted bond and were released with a court date.

March 30

Nabbed in Routine Stop

It was almost 3 a.m. when police pulled over Andrew P. Berkos, 26, of 1930 Heather Lane, Joliet. It was a traffic stop near Black Road and N.E. Frontage Road. Police discovered an outstanding warrant on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. Berkos posted bond and was released with a court date.
