Rogues Gallery: Egg Heads

Today we have our back-up Easter Rogues Gallery. We decided to go with the Jesus one last week but thought we'd share this with you anyway.

We know Easter was eight days ago, but we didn't want to wait a whole year without sharing the Egghead edition of the Rogues Gallery.

We considered running this gallery the day after Easter, but had ready to go too. This led to a pretty heated debate among the editorial staff here at the Shorewood Patch, and for a while we really didn't know what to do.

We hoped to run one on gallery on regular Easter and the other on Greek Easter, but wouldn't you know it, they were on the same day this year. And due to the lack of Greeks or Greek-Americans on staff here at the Shorewood Patch, we don't even know if they have Easter Eggs on Greek Easter. And if they don't, it would make the whole egghead motif kind of pointless. So that was another problem.

At any rate, the arguments for going with Eggheads the day after Easter had their merits, but at the end of the day were not convincing enough to bump the we decided to run.

It was a difficult call, and those of us here at the Shorewood Patch got some grief for choosing to run photographs of incarcerated men who some might think look a little like Jesus Christ.

No less than three people took us to task for daring to broach such a controversial subject. And to be honest, that made us feel quite proud of ourselves. We were a veritable lightning rod of controversey. Just like those Danish cartoonists who were bold enough to draw pictures of Muhammad. Or like Charlie Sheen, who is apparently not scared to do anything.

But that's how we do it here at the Shorewood Patch. We make the tough decisions and we live with them. And we also show you pictures of funny mugshots from the county jail. We're just doing our jobs.
