Rude Awakening at Joliet Dunkin' Donuts: Lawsuit

A man claiming his legs and feet were injured in a counter crash is suing Dunkin' Donuts.

By Joseph Hosey

A man claims the counter of a Joliet Dunkin' Donuts collapsed and fell on his feet and legs, injuring them.

The allegedly injured man, Sari Shalakhti, filed a lawsuit against both Dunkin' Donuts Inc. and Dunkin' Donuts of Illinois Inc.

Shalakhti was standing at the counter of the Dunkin' Donuts on South Chicago Street in September when it suddenly "fell onto (his) legs and feet causing injuries which required medical and surgical treatment, caused pain, suffering and disability, and caused (him) to incur medical expenses and lose income," the lawsuit said.

Dunkin' Donuts Inc. and Dunkin' Donuts of Illinois Inc. not only "allowed the counter on its premises to fall into disrepair," but also failed to fix it, close off the area or warn Shalakhti of the danger of standing near it, the suit said.
