UPDATE: Shorewood Police Assist in Apprehending Burglary Suspects

Two adults and one juvenile are located by Shorewood Police; proceeds from burglary recovered in juvenile's home in Channahon.

Thanks to eyewitness reports and two police agencies working together, two adults and one juvenile are facing charges following a smash-and-grab burglary at Angie's Tobacco & Cigars, located near U.S. 6 and Ridge Road in Channahon.

The incident occured at 1:52 a.m. Friday, according to Channahon Police chief Jeff Wold.

Jozef Tobias, 18, of Shorewood and Ryan Shaver, 18, of Channahon, were charged with burglary, according to a police spokeswoman. The two were transferred to Grundy County jail. The other individual involved in the incident was taken to the River Valley Juvenile Dention Center.

All three were apprehended on Friday morning, thanks in no small part to the assistance of eyewitnesses, according to Wold.

"Witnesses recognize one suspect and stated there were a total of three, get a vehicle description and a plate number," Wold said. "We sent out a message to area police to look for the vehicle.

"About an hour later, Shorewood Police locate the vehicle, (the) driver is interviewed and then transported back to Channahon PD for more questioning."

Wold said a judge later signed a search warrant and police went into a juvenile's home in Channahon and recovered proceeds from the burglary—cigarettes and various pipes.
