Reefer arrest

A Lockport man driving around Shorewood with no tail lights got caught with pot and drug paraphernalia, police said.

Manuel Alvarez, 20, of 17048 Hedgewood Court was pulled over for "equipment violations" about 11:45 p.m. near the corner of Route 52 and Mary Street, police said.

Alvarez was arrested on charges of possession of cannabis, possession of drug equipment, and he was cited for allegedly driving without insurance or tail lights.

Alvarez was released after posting bond.

Wanted man captured

A Joliet man wanted on a criminal charge in Kendall County was captured by Shorewood officers during an early morning traffic stop.

Aric Vandermeir, 21, of 2110 Dartmoor Drive was taken into custody about 2 a.m. near the intersection of South Raven Road and Westshore Drive.

Vandermeir was a passenger in a car that was stopped by the cops, police said.

During the traffic stop, officers apparently realized there was an active Kendall County warrant for Vandermeir's arrest, police said. The warrant charged him with driving while license suspended.

Vandermeir was released after posting bond.
