Shorewood Police Investigating 'Ruse' Burglary

Two male offenders posed as sewage contractors in a bid to pull a fast one on a Shorewood woman.

Shorewood police are investigating a "ruse" burglary that took place on Monday afternoon, according to a a NIXLE.com report.

Following is a recap of the report, issued by Shorewood police chief Aaron Klima:

The male offenders posed as sewage contractors and approached the female victim while she was outside her residence. The ruse is to lure the unknowing victim into the backyard while an accomplice enters the unsecured residence. The subjects drove an unknown black or dark colored sport utility vehicle with no significant decals or markings.

Instructions:

If approached by a contractor, ask for identification and if not satisfied contact the police. Any persons with additional information or if you have fallen victim is encouraged to contact the Shorewood Police Department Investigations (815) 725-1460
