Long arm of the law

A drunken Plainfield man made a run for it but failed to make it beyond the reach of the long arm of the law, police said.

Kyle McKown, 27, of 1212 Courtland Circle was taken into custody shortly before 1 a.m. near the intersection of Route 59 and Ridge Road.

A cop tried to stop McKown for speeding but he took off, police said. Once they got him, McKown was charged with driving under the influence, driving while license revoked, and fleeing and eluding a peace officer.

McKown also took tickets for reckless driving, driving without insurance, improper lane usage, driving too fast for conditions, speeding, disobeying a stop sign, and failing to signal.

On top of that, McKown had arrest warrants out of Champaign County for driving while license suspended and driving under the influence, McLean County for aggravated driving under the influence and regular driving under the influence, and Will County for driving under the influence.

McKown was taken to the Will County jail.

Mystery battery

A local woman was arrested on a battery charge but the police did not disclose who she allegedly battered or what she supposedly did.

Jeanne Williams, 48, of 106 E. Jefferson St. was arrested about 2 p.m. at 106 E. Jefferson St. The police had little else to say about it.
