The Shorewood cops took a bite out of crime when a local man surrendered to the police and was charged with stealing dental hygene products from a drugstore.

Scott Bulow, 43, of 1104 Rosewood St. showed up at the police station about 11:30 a.m. and turned himself on a charge of retail theft.

Bulow raided the Walgreens at River Road and Jefferson Street and took it for "multiple toothbrushes, replacement heads, and mouthwash products," police said.

Bulow's brush with the law landed him in the county jail.

Mixed signals

A driver who failed to signal a turn ended up being drunk, police said.

Michael Kramer, 43, of 302 Greenfield Road in Shorewood was pulled over shortly after 12:30 a.m. near the intersection of North Raven Road and Robin Hill Drive.

Kramer was arrested on charges of driving under the influence, driving without insurance and failing to signal. He was taken to the county jail.

Seat belt blues

A Joliet man allegedly failed to wear his seat belt in Shorewood.

Jorge Hernandez, 36, of 1304 Roth Drive was pulled over for allegedly being unbelted about 8:30 p.m. near the corner of Vertin Boulevard and Mazalin Drive.

Hernandez was charged with a seat belt violation and driving with a revoked license.

Turn for the worse

A Joliet teen caught a cop's attention when he failed to signal a turn, and then things got a whole lot worse when it became apparent he did not have insurance or a valid driver's license, police said.

The 16-year-old was picked up about 4:30 p.m. on West Jefferson Street near River Road.

June 24

Traffic (stop): drug charge

A Plainfield man was charged with possession of a controlled substance during a traffic stop.

Brian Gluszek, 34, of 1410 Wood Duck Lane was pulled over about 11:40 p.m. near the intersection of Route 59 and Center Court.

On top of the felony drug charge Gluszek was hit with charges of improper lane usage, defective windshield, and improper turn at an intersection.
