Update: Troy Firefighters Battle Sunday Evening Blaze on Green Meadow Lane

Troy firefighters put the fire out quickly, and two house pets escaped the blaze.

Update: Troy firefighters quickly doused the Sunday evening house fire in the 3500 block of Green Meadow Lane.

Troy Fire Chief Steve Engledow said the blaze started in a dining area off the house's kitchen.

All the home's occupants were outside working in the yard when the fire broke out, Engledow said. Two pets, a dog and a cat, were inside but escaped.

Most of the damage to the house was caused by smoke, Engledow said. The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.

Smoke was reportedly showing from the single family dwelling when the Troy Township Fire Department responded to the 5 p.m. blaze.

The house in unincorporated Troy Township, south of Black Road and west of Timberline Drive.
