Wife May Have Killed Family in Suicidal State, Lawyer Says

The lawyer for Christopher Vaughn, who's charged with his family's murders, wants testimony on the potentially suicide-inducing drug Kimberly Vaughn was taking.

An anti-seizure medication found in the body of Kimberly Vaughn could have made her suicidal, according the lawyer representing her husband, who's accused of her murder.

Joliet lawyer George Lenard told a Will County judge Monday that an expert on the drug Topamax should be allowed to testify at for the shooting deaths of his wife, his 11- and 12-year-old daughters and 8-year-old son in June 2007 in an area off Interstate 55 near Channahon. The account was published by the Sun-Times Media Group.

It's possible Kimberly Vaughn could have shot her husband and children before turning the gun on herself, the lawyer said.

The 12-year-old daughter, Abigayle, reportedly told classmates that her mother heard "thoughts in her head" and was "psycho," Lenard told the judge, according to the story.

Suicide is onr thing but killing your children is quite another. She would never have done that.

When I had a bout of depression and was suicidal I never thought about physically hurting my children at the time I wasn't thinking right and realised I hurt my kids by my actions. Some anti seizure drugs are used to treat depression and most drugs for treating depression have the side effect of increased suicidal thoughts not homicidal thoughts or actions again someone using a drug to get away with murder I believe this man is guilty and should be put in general population so he can see what happens to him.

Im glad both of you are such experts on depression and medication. Unfortunately, the news is filled with stories of people both men and women who have taken the lives of their loved ones. I'm not saying who did what, but your assumptions are unfounded. It scares me to know that there are people out there willing to toss someone in prison for the rest of their lives just based on a couple articles written by the media which has proven over and over to cut edit and misinform people with their so called reporting. Just look how the Trayvon Martin case has been reported by so called trustworthy media outlets. Let the evidence and the police decide what happened and I pray you are not selected for the jury.

Research it yourself how many people in this world are on antidepressants and how many people kill their loved ones then take their own life not many yes its a possibility but if my spouse had a gun and tried shooting one of my kids I would have tried my best to save them he was shot in the leg come on if I was going to kill my family I wouldn't have shot my spouse in the leg earl I hope they call you for jury duty so you can see for yourself and possibly get the picture.
