Witnesses Say Car Causes Accident, Takes Off

Police continue to search for the driver witnesses said caused a motorcycle accident.

A witness said a rust-colored, cube-shaped car pulled out in front of a motorcycle, stopped briefly, watched the bike go down, then sped off.

The car was heading south on County Line Road Monday about 2:30 p.m. The motorcycle was coming around the curve eastbound along Rt. 52.

The motorcycle swerved to miss the car, ending on its side with the driver's right leg pinned under it, according to several witnesses.

One witness said the motorcycle driver did a remarkable job controlling his bike. The accident could have been a lot worse.

"I thought he broke his leg just by looking at it," the witness said.

The car was described as possibly a Scion or Honda Element in a dark orange or rust color. It continued southbound on County Line Road.

Shorewood police arrived on the scene to assist state police in searching for the vehicle.

"As far as we know, (the vehicle) was never found," said Chief Aaron Klima.

State police Trooper Jeff Murry was not available for comment.
