Woman Robbed and Burglarized; County Seeking Help Finding Suspect

A black man driving a dark-colored car broke into the victim's house this morning and then stole her purse when she returned home, Will County Deputy Chief Ken Kaupas said.

An elderly woman was robbed this morning and her house burglarized by a man who threatened her with a screwdriver, Will County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Ken Kaupas said.

Officers are seeking a black man driving a black or dark-colored vehicle whom the victim met in her driveway when she returned to her home in the 1800 block of Brandon Road, just outside the city limits of Joliet, at about 11:25 a.m., Kaupas said.

Initially, the suspect asked the victim if she wanted to hire him to do yard work for her, he said. When she declined, he forcibly pulled the woman from her car, brandished the screwdriver and told her to give him her purse, he said.

The woman did as he requested, and the suspect fled. She then entered her house and discovered it had been ransacked and that she had been burglarized, Kaupas said. Investigators are still processing the scene to determine what was stolen.

The victim is still being interviewed for more details about the robber and the vehicle he was driving. It's possible the car had temporary Illinois plates, Kaupas said.

Anyone with information about the burglary, robbery or suspect is asked to call the Will County Sheriff's Office's investigations unit at 815-727-8574.

Somehow I am not really suprised. And neither are you. Maybe if this ass jack had a job he would have been there instead of preying on an elderly helpless women.

Lots of break ins around the Garnsey Park area. Thieves are using scrambling devices to get into garages and steal items. 2 recent break ins on Kelly Avenue.
