City Asks for Input on Caton Farm Road Bridge Improvements

Look for project to begin in summer/fall of 2016.

The City of Joliet is in the preliminary engineering phase of the improvement to the Caton Farm Road over the DuPage River bridge, and is asking residents for feedback.

The project is slated to begin construction no later than summer/fall of 2016 and consists of removing and replacing the existing bridge deck in two stages. During the project, Caton Farm Road will be reduced from four to two lanes of traffic.

Access to Lily Cache Road from Caton Farm Road will be closed to traffic for approximately three months during Stage I. Signs will be posted for a detour using Route 59 and Rolf Road until the Lily Cache Road intersection is opened after Stage I completion.

One lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction during construction. Upon completion of the Caton Farm Road bridge improvements, traffic will be re-established to two lanes of traffic in each direction.

The Joliet Department of Public Works is accepting comments on the adverse impacts of the temporary Lily Cache Road closure on local businesses and residents through May 30.
