Spy Wednesday

Kurt Carroll takes talents to New Lenox

The Shorewood Patch breaks the about Kurt Carroll, the Shorewood village administrator since January 2001, quitting to go work for New Lenox. A source said Carroll, who is making in excess of $110,000 a year, is leaving Shorewood and heading east "probably for more money." New Lenox Mayor Tim Baldermann said Carroll's start date at the new job will be May 31. Shorewood has yet to line up Carroll's replacement.

Maintenance man saves day at The Timbers

John Kraske, the maintenance director at The Timbers of Shorewood, doused a with water and a fire extinguisher before the flames could spread inside the building. The blaze was reportedly touched off by a smoldering cigarette butt inadvertently left on the balcony by a private care-giver who stepped outside for a smoke.
