Gymnastics & Dance Company Wants to Locate in Shorewood Industrial District

Property owners asks village board to grant a conditional use permit.

A gymnastics and dance company wants to locate its business in an industrial district in Shorewood, according to a Sun-Times News Group report.

And the owner of the property, Joseph Serena, has petitioned the village board for a conditional use permit so Dean Gymnastics and Dance Company can move into a 12,000 square-foot building at 304 Amendodge, according to the report.

Dean Gymnastics and Dance Company would occupy 10,000 square feet of space in the building, according to the report, and would offer regular classes but would be prohibited from staging competitions because of limited parking.

Village trustees expressed concerns over increased traffic in the area and the safety of the children during a recent board meeting. Mayor Rick Chapman asked a couple of the trustees to work with Serena in resolving some of the issues before the permit is voted on, according to the Sun-Times News Group report.

Trustee Steve Brockman said the Village has allowed other businesses to locate within the same industrial district in the report.
