Moira Dunn of Shorewood will run for the open state representative seat in the 97th District following former candidate Dennis Grosskopf’s decision to remove himself from the general election ballot.

“I’m excited for this new opportunity to continue serving my community and to be a strong bipartisan voice for every person in this district, regardless of whether they are Republicans, Democrats or Independents,” Dunn said.

“As a criminal prosecutor, I have fought hard for local families, working for justice for victims and their families and to keep dangerous criminals off the streets. We need a new voice and fresh perspective to fight for middle-class families who continue struggling to get by, for our schools and our children to make sure they get the best education possible and for seniors and taxpayers who are constantly faced with the prospect of higher property taxes.”

Dunn is a criminal prosecutor with the Will County State’s Attorney’s Office. Stricken with an undiagnosed brain tumor during law school, she overcame a life-threatening health obstacle to receive her law degree before undergoing successful surgery. She has worked in both civil and criminal law for more than a decade.

Dunn has volunteered for a local Court Appointed Special Advocates for children group and is active in the Will County Bar Association and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Will-Grundy Counties.

“After talking it over with my family, I have decided that due to the commitments I have to them and to my job as a teacher, the most responsible thing for me to do at this time is to remove myself from the ballot,” Grosskopf said.

“Fortunately, we have an excellent candidate in Moira Dunn. She stands in strong contrast to Mark Batinick, who has been accused by members of his own party of orchestrating a takeover of the Plainfield Park District only to enrich himself and his political insider friends.”

The 97th Representative District consists mainly of portions of Plainfield, Shorewood and Oswego.

Batinick claims to be a small business owner. He is a Realtor with re/max professionals select. I cannot for the life of me find out what business he owns. Does anyone know what business he owns that gives him this vast experience he claims to have in running a business, meeting payroll, etc., etc? Describe his staff. Describe his business acumen as a business owner. Describe his aptitude for job creation. There is no evidence he owns a business and I'm calling BS until proven.

Foundations need to be built on concrete footings. Smoke & mirrors, sandy surfaces & BS rhetoric only makes fools look like fools in the end. Truth talks, BS walks. What business does this guy own? Who does he employ? What jobs has he created with this business? He is very bragadocious about his accomplishmets. Put up or shut up.

Prove it, I'm your #1 supporter; no proof, well what can I say. Madigan's crowd will have a FIELD DAY with nonsense swiss cheese claims. You can't BS yourself into public office. You will be called out.

Notice how this topic got real quiet? I asked a few questions about Batinick. What business does he own, how many does he employ, how has he created jobs? He is a Realtor, a noble profession. He proclaims to be a small business owner yet the firm he works for is not owned by him. What business does he own from which he has gained this wealth of knowledge he professes to have about running a business, employing people, etc., etc?

How many does he employ? What are his gross receipts from this business? Who is on his payroll? Where is this business located? What type of business is he engaged in as an owner of this business? Why can these questions not be answered?
