Shorewood and Troy Township Unveil First Ever Community Garden

Hurry and snatch up your garden plot because they are sure to go fast.

If your yard is too small or too shady or too rocky for a garden, you can rent one in Four Seasons Park for next to nothing.

The Village of Shorewood and Troy Township have teamed to create the Shorewood Community Garden in the park right next to the township offices.

Village and township residents can register now at Shorewood Village Hall to rent as many 10-foot-by-10-foot garden plots as they want to get. The first plot costs $25 with each additional one going for $15.

The plots will be available for planting on May 2 — weather permitting — and must be planted by June.

"I think it's a wonderful opportunity for the village to take community to the next level," said Shorewood Economic Development Director Nancy Roman.
