Shorewood Paying Up To $22K To Find Somebody To Fill Shoes Of $110K Man

Without a village administrator for more than a month following Kurt Carroll quitting, Shorewood is ready to pay $22,000 to a Deerfield firm to help them find a new one.

Former village Administrator Kurt Carroll walked away from Shorewood more than a month ago.

The village has yet to find a replacement for the man they had reportedly been paying in excess of $110,000 a year, and now they are ready to fork over as much as $22,000 to a Deerfield firm to help them get someone.

The village board approved a measure to pay Vorhees Associates LLC up to $22,000 to assist them in replacing Carroll.

Carroll, the village administrator since January 2001, abandoned Shorewood in May for the apparently greener pastures of New Lenox.

A source who asked to be kept anonymous said the village would like the next administrator to come in for cheaper than what it had been paying Carroll. But now trustees cleared the way to pay a fifth of Carroll's salary to a firm just to find them someone to take the job.
