Shorewood Welcomes Marine Home

Marine Matt Muentnich survived two roadside bomb attacks in Afghanistan.

The is welcoming home Marine Matt Muentnich on Saturday.

Muentnich joined the Marines in February 2010 and left for Afghanistan in May.

Muentnich returned to the States in November, but Shorewood is giving him his real welcome home on Saturday.

Starting at 1 p.m., community members, friends and supporters are going to line up at the near the intersection of Route 59 and Black Road, beginning at 1 p.m.

The Illinois Patriot Guard Riders will begin the welcome at 1:30 p.m. and escort Muentnich west to River Road, south to Jefferson Street, east to Route 59 and end at .

All are welcome to attend an open house in Muentnich’s honor at Mark’s on 59 from 2 to 4 p.m.
