Sledding Banned at Park After Accident

Officials in a western Pennsylvania town banned sledding in a park following an accident, according to the television station KDKA.

A sledding accident prompted officials in a western Pennsylvania town to outlaw sledding in one of their parks and to impose restrictions in another, according to a report by the television station KDKA.

In the town of Beaver Borough, PA, "residents just got a newsletter, alerting them to restrictions on sledding in two popular parks," according to the KDKA report.

The report quotes Borough Manager Whitney Brady as saying “Some are completely prohibited and some are restricted.”

“There are safety measures attached to these restrictions to insure the safety of the community,” Brady said, according to the report, which went on to note that "Brady says after an accident in Wayne Square Park, borough council decided to ban sled riding in that park."

In the other park, only Beaver Borough residents are allowed to sled, as outsiders are now forbidden to slide down the park's hills, the report said.
