Two-thirds of the Way Home in Shorewood's Big Election

Eight of 12 precincts are back and the race is still tight.

With eight of 12 precincts back and counted, Celine Schwartz is still on top in a hotly contested race for village board.

Schwartz has 579 of the 2,139 counted so far. James "Mac" McDonald is in second with 555, Leroy Stahr has 505, and challenger Stevan Brockman is right up there with 492.

Troy school district race is a tight one as well with 173 votes separating third place candidate Cynthia Jo Rasmussen from fourth place candidate John "Stretch" Stefanski. The top three finishers make the cut in the school board race.

The Troy Fire Protection District board race was opening up a bit, with fifth-place candidate John Scheidt holding a 137-vote lead over independent candidate Bob Robinson for the fifth and final spot.
