Demos, Huey, Jones Named JCA's Students Of The Month

Plainfield's Stephanie Demos, Joliet's Matt Huey and Naperville's Malin Jones were named the November Students of the Month for JCA.

Joliet Catholic Academy is pleased to announce its Students of the Month for November: Stephanie Demos, Kiwanis Club of Joliet; Matt Huey, Joliet Noon Lions Club, and Malin Jones, Rotary Club of Joliet.

The daughter of Brian and Kim, Demos was recently named a National Merit Scholar commended student. The Class of 2012 Salutatorian with a weighted 4.97 grade-point average, Demos is captain for the dance and track-and-field teams and a runner on the Angels’ state-qualifying cross country team.

A member of Mu Alpha Theta and Spanish National Honor Society, Demos is the secretary of National Honor Society. She has pared her college choices down to the University of Illinois, Miami University and Ohio State University.

“I hope to major in economics or business,” said Demos, a Plainfield resident. “I hope to one day own my own business.”

The son of James and Barbara, Huey is ranked 29th in his class with a weighted 4.26 grade-point average. He competes for the tennis team in the spring and is a member of French Club, the math team and Scholastic Bowl.

Besides National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta and National French Honor Society, Huey has received certificates for environmental science, accounting and French. He plans on attending Michigan Tech or Purdue, majoring in actuarial science with a minor in statistics.

“I would like to work for an insurance agency or some type of big business,” said Huey, a Joliet resident.

The son of Earl and Dolores, Jones lists government as his favorite subject. He is the captain of the Hilltoppers’ football team, recently becoming the first player in school history to rush for over 1,000 yards in three consecutive seasons. He plans on majoring in business.

A member of the “A” and “B” honor roll, Jones earned a full-ride scholarship to Northwestern for football and will be playing in the inaugural Semper Fi All-America Bowl in January at Chase Field in Phoenix, AZ, home of major-league baseball’s Diamondbacks.

“I would like to own my own business some day,” said Jones, a Naperville resident.
