JCA Names December Students Of The Month

Isaac Grashoff, Sarah Morimoto and Dan Rabulinski were honored as Joliet Catholic Academy's Students of the Month for December.

Joliet Catholic Academy is pleased to announce its Students of the Month for December: Isaac Grashoff, Joliet Noon Lions Club; Sarah Morimoto, Rotary Club of Joliet; and Dan Rabulinski, Kiwanis Club of Joliet.

The son of Arnold and Denise, Grashoff lists science as his favorite subject and carries a 3.5 grade-point average on 4.0 scale. He was a captain for the Hilltoppers’ football team that recently reached the state finals for the 17th time in school history, finishing as the Class 5A runnersup.

A Plainfield resident, Grashoff is a student ambassador and a member of Rotary Leadership Club, Art National Honor Society, Pro Life Club, Key Club and Varsity Club. He was named all-conference by the East Suburban Catholic and all-area by the Joliet Herald-News for football.

Grashoff has been a sixth-grade basketball coach, an Interfaith Food Pantry volunteer, and enjoys fitness, basketball, snowboarding and spending time with his friends. While undecided for college, he plans on majoring in the medical field, possibly nursing.

The daughter of Dr. Celeste Kaliski and Dr. David Morimoto, Sarah Morimoto carries a weighted 5.0 grade-point average and lists math as her favorite subject. She is president of both Mu Alpha Theta and French Club, and was recently named an Illinois State Scholar.

A Joliet resident and the captain of the varsity dance team, Morimoto is a student ambassador as well as being a member of NHS, French NHS, National Society of High School Scholars, 41*88 Art and Literary Magazine and the math team. She plans on majoring in pre-med with a minor in dance.

“I love to dance and I love helping others,” said Morimoto, who is applying to Northwestern University, Columbia and Washington, is a teacher’s assistant at Beth’s Dance Academy and also won a scholarship to compete in a dance convention.

The son of Daniel and Dana, Rabulinski was recently named an Illinois State Scholar, is the president of both the Science Club and the History Club, and the treasurer for the French Club. He is member of NHS and French NHS and scored in the top 20 percent on the French National Contest for 2009 and 2010.

A captain of the varsity soccer team, Rabulinski also played varsity volleyball his sophomore year. He works for the 41*88 Art and Literary Magazine. A member of the “A” honor roll each quarter and semester at JCA, Rabulinski plans on attending a four-year university and majoring in biology.
