JCA Names Its September Students of the Month

Jillian Hickey (Lions Club), Nolan Hucek (Kiwanis) and Andrew Pultorak (Rotary) are honored for their efforts inside and outside of the classroom at Joliet Catholic Academy.

Joliet Catholic Academy is pleased to announce its Students of the Month for September: Jillian Hickey, Joliet Noon Lions Club; Nolan Hucek, Kiwanis Club of Joliet; and Andrew Pultorak, Rotary Club of Joliet.

A three-year varsity volleyball player who won the 2009 state championship with her sister Annemarie and started for the 2010 state runnersup, Hickey carries a 4.03 grade-point average on a 4.0 scale and is ranked fourth in her class.

The daughter of Dan and Sharon of Oswego, Hickey lists Algebra as her favorite subject and is a member of National Honor Society. She is the president of Student Council, leader of the Hillzone, and participates in varsity club, math team, Key Club, Latin club and student ambassadors.

She plans on majoring in pre-veterinary medicine or electrical engineering at the University of Notre Dame, Wisconsin or Purdue. She loves reading, loves the Harry Potter series, and the reason she wants to be a veterinarian is the love for her black lab named Minnie.

Hucek, a Joliet native, has been a Student Council class officer all four years, currently serving as vice president. He is a four-year varsity player in volleyball and a two-year captain for the Hilltoppers. He also is a leader of the Hillzone.

The son of Doug and Beth, Hucek is a member of National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, 41-88 art literary magazine, the math team, history club, varsity club, Spanish club and student ambassadors.

Hucek’s future plans include majoring in either pharmacy or international business and accounting.

Pultorak carries a 4.28 grade-point average and lists his favorite subject as French. The president of the school’s Respect Life and French Club and the vice president of the science club, he is a member of National Honor Society and French Honor Society.

A youth ministry peer minister at St. Paul’s, he plans on majoring in theology and philosophy at Franciscan University of Steubenville with the hopes of becoming a priest. He is the son of Ed and Sue of Joliet.

“My faith life is very important to me,” Pultorak said. “I love to reach out and evangelize to others, and I also enjoy working with computers.”
