Second Administrator Leaves Troy Schools for Hinsdale

Director of Operations Ken Surma was recruited by former Superintendent Don White.

A second Troy School District administrator will follow former Superintendent Don White to Hinsdale Community Consolidated School District 181.

Troy Director of Operations Ken Surma has taken a job as the new assistant superintendent of information services and operations in District 181, according to the Herald-News. He will once again join White, who resigned from Troy in May to become Hinsdale's new superintendent.

White recommended Surma for the position in a July 8 memo to the Hinsdale board of education.

"Ken held a similar position in my previous district, and I have recruited him specifically to fill this role, beginning July 21," White wrote. "His expertise will be a major asset to our team."

Surma's salary in his new post is $128,250.

Last month, the Troy board hired former O'Fallon School District 90 Superintendent Todd Koehl to replace white.
