Staff Cuts on Horizon in Troy School District?
Because of an anticipated increase in debt payments, Troy School Superintendent Don White is making plans to keep the district in a "healthy financial picture."
Troy School District superintendent Don White has submitted a proposal to make cuts in staffing as he looks toward the 2013-14 school year and the district's growing bond payments, according to a Sun-Times News Group report.
White has proposed the following changes:
- Elimination of a part-time administrative assistant (includes salary, does not receive benefits), $12,500.
- Reduction in administrative salaries based on attrition, $100,000.
- Elimination of a full-time secretarial postion at the Troy campus (includes salary and benefits), $38,000.
- Elmination of a secretary at the Troy Crossroads Elementary School (includes salary and fenefits), $39,000.
The Troy school board will consider White's proposals at its March 20 meeting, according to Marianne Eisenbrandt's report in The Herald News.

"We want to make sure that we have a healthy financial picture for many years to come," White said in the Sun-Times News Group report. "If that means tightening our belt right now and making some reductions, I would rather do it now because it is better for the district in the long run."
