The Troy Consolidated School District 30C School Board held a special meeting Wednesday night to accept the resignation of Superintendent Don White.

In an article published by the Bugle, White confirmed his resignation and said he's accepted a job at an undisclosed district in northern Illinois, but said he and his family will continue to live in Shorewood.

“Troy has been a wonderful professional opportunity for me,” White told the paper, saying he did not seek out the new job but was contacted by a search firm. “I have absolutely enjoyed my time here. It far exceeded my expectations, and I can’t say enough about the teachers and the administrators in the district.”

We won't miss you. Take your "dress code" with you.

I suppose young men running around with their pants down around their knee's is a good sight. Its disrespectful to the teachers and the school with kids showing up looking like bums. If parents would do their jobs and send their kids to school in proper clothes the school district wouldn't need a dress code.

Somehow the dress code is now "Troy Spirit wear" sweatpants for the girls.

I attended the board meeting when Dr. White submitted his resignation. The school board voted to hire the recruiting firm that was approached by Dr. White. I found that disconcerting and feel it was a conflict of interest. While Dr. White had good intentions regarding the dress code, his approach was lacking. Let's hope that the new superintendent will have better communication skills.
