The pie-in-the-Sky dream to play in the WNBA is nearing a reality for a former Joliet Catholic Academy girls basketball standout.
Allie Quigley recently was signed to a training camp deal by the WNBA's Chicago Sky. She has been on the radar of Sky coach and general manager Pokey Chatman for some time.
"I've had the opportunity over the past couple of years to watch Allie grow her game and I'm please to have her join our training camp," Chatman said in a news release on the Chicago Sky's official website. "Her ability to stretch the defense and score the ball has helped her lead her team, not only in scoring, but to its first Euroleague Final Eight appearance."
Quigley, a 5-foot-10 guard, is playing in Slovakia in the Euroleague, according to a Chicago Sun-Times News Group report. She will join the Sky on time to participate in training camp.
The Sky open its 2013 WNBA season on May 27 at Phoenix.
Quigley was a collegiate All-America pick at DePaul.
