Jam Session is a Celebration of 'Dogs' in Shorewood's Towne Center Park

Sadie—a Boxer/Terrier mix—was crowned as the best-dressed dog in Shorewood during a Summer Fun night program Thursday in Towne Center Park.

There was no need for a chorus of “Who Let the Dogs Out.”

Marty “Big Dog” Mercer brought his band and his brand of blues music to Shorewood’s Towne Center Park for the Village’s weekly Summer Fun night program Thursday. Mercer, recently featured on Patch, is competing to represent Chicago Blues at a festival in Memphis.

While he jammed in the band shell, boys and girls played on the splash pad and showed off the best-dressed dogs in the Village. And Village parks and recreation officials served up $1 hot dogs and brats. More than 100 were consumed in less than one hour.
