Library Llama Kicks Off Shorewood Summer Reading Program

Petting zoo attracts boys and girls to parking lot as summer reading program launches at Shorewood-Troy Library.

At Monday’s Shorewood-Troy Library Summer Reading program kickoff event, the llama in the petting zoo in the parking lot was the big star.

Boys and girls of all ages flocked to feed the llama and to pet the billy goats while their parents signed them up to participate in the library’s summer reading program. The parking lot was jammed as officers with Shorewood’s DARE Unit were on hand along with the members of the Troy Fire Protection District.

Children were allowed to climb into a fire truck. And they were treated to cotton candy and freezer pops, too.
