Residents Select Winner in Best of Shorewood BBQ Contest

Do you like your BBQ sweet and tangy? Or hot and spicy?

Question: Who was the big winner in the Best of Shorewood BBQ contest on Thursday night?

Residents sampled pulled pork from three different local restaurants during a program at Shorewood’s Towne Center and then voted Cutting Edge Catering the winner. rQ Barbecue—Shorewood’s newest eatery—and Skooters RoadHouse tied for second place.

Mayor Rick Chapman took part in the blind-test tasting and cast his own ballot. (Note: He did not vote for the eventual winner). The program was the second in a summer-long series of events.

“We want everyone to know that there is something free, fun and family friendly to do in Shorewood every Thursday night,” said Denise Schmidt, president of Shorewood Area Chamber of Commerce.

Businesses represented on the bridge during the program: Troy Township Office, Julie Quigley Shaklee Distributor, Community Chiropractic, Matt Chavers Premier Design, PostNet, First Midwest Bank, Optimal Health and Wellness.

Expo Presenting Sponsor: Ryland Homes.

Kick Off Chamber Party Sponsor: Adventist Plainfield Medical Center.

Band: NoJo performed in the band shell and was presented by the Shorewood Parks and Recreation Department with sponsorship by Christopher B. Burke Engineering, Shorewood Area Chamber of Commerce and Minooka Baseball/Softball Association.
