In Japanese culture, a Sensi is a teacher or leader, one who is all-knowing, particularly in the area of judo and karate. In our little world here in Shorewood, you can turn to Patch for the all-knowing list of what’s happening in and around town each weekend:
1. Shorewood Crossroads Festival. The event runs Friday (Aug. 2) through Sunday (Aug. 4) at Four Seasons Park off of Seil Road. Fireworks will lit up the sky at 9 p.m. Saturday. A parade on Sunday features four local marching bands: Troy Middle School, Joliet West High School, Minooka High School and Minooka Junior High School. Click here for the schedule of events.
3. Downtown Joliet Kidzfest. Starting at 10 a.m Saturday and presented by Joliet City Center Partnership—Kidzfest is a children’s wonderland on the streets of downtown Joliet, where families can explore, create, play and imagine all for free. Check here for more details.
4. RomeoFest. The event features two fireworks displays, scheduled for 9:30 p.m. Friday and Sunday, as well as a full schedule of live music, food vendors and plenty of activities for the whole family. The fest opens at 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday and noon Saturday and Sunday.
5. Minooka Farmer’s Market. This runs from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday (Aug. 3) in the parking lot across from Cookie’s Restaurant, which is located on the corner of Mondamin St. and Wabena Avenue in the heart of historic downtown Minooka.
