Old Newspaper Guy -- Here's what the city's press release said: "The Joliet Junior College…Read More Foundation relocated the Cronin School to the Joliet Junior College Main Campus and restored it to its original condition in the 1930’s to serve as a living history museum." So, you can see how easy it is to misunderstand what was being said!

Hi Karen, Yep, looks like whoever did the press release hit a 3 instead of the 8. This info is from…Read More JJC web site. ---> The nearly 145-year-old school house was moved to the Main Campus in 1987, where it has served as a living history museum. Originally located on Black Road, the Cronin School served Troy Township until January 1950. The effort to restore it was spearheaded by two former JJC agriculture professors.

Hi Karen,
My name is Tammy and I am the field trip coordinator at the college and this is a…Read More wonderful article. Just FYI, the school is turning 150 years old this year. Two of the colleges professors were instrumental in relocating and preserving the schoolhouse in 1987. Also, I want to recognize the 3 gentlemen that selflessly volunteer their time to give presentations at the schoolhouse. Mr. John Cronin and Mr. Lew Davies actually attended the schoolhouse and Mr. Russ Ghilain whose mother was a teacher at the schoolhouse and he is a retired teacher who worked at Joliet Township. Not only do they give presentations, but they give their time to decorate the schoolhouse for the holidays. These wonderful gentlemen, retell interesting and amusing recollections of their experiences of the schoolhouse. This is truly an honor receiving the Joliet Historic Preservation Commission's seventh annual Historic Preservation Award and I would publicly like to thank the Joliet Historic Preservation Commission for bestowing this honor of the Cronin School.

Wow!! What a great idea. Why not have a teen patch? Or a spot on patch for the teens to read.

I love this! When can they implement it at Dirksen Junior High? My son goes there, and they need the…Read More help badly.

I was a professional musician for 42 years, starting at age 13. My bandmates & I were criticized…Read More by the adults at that time, too. It's all about different perceptions of what's "music" to different age groups. I've heard a LOT worse from so-called "artists" who've had radio hits. Congratulations, Dustin, and good luck!

Good luck! I don't know him at all, but I love it when people go for their dreams!

Why sugar coat it. If he was on idol he would have been kicked off. That's the problem you may have…Read More a dream but wake up if you don't have the talent, then don't lie to the poor child. Your just setting him up for a lot of heart ache. He will only have a chance if he gets auto tuned or does scream o music. He is just trying to ride springfields coat tails. There are kids in channahon & minooka with bands that are way better with talent.

Another…Read More reason why I am so thankful I moved into the New Lenox school district instead of Shorewood. Again - worry less on the clothes and instead focus on the education your kids are not getting.

It was an amazing season for these 14 young women! Thank you!!!

Anonymous, regardless of what your home cost, you certainly have the mentality of trailer park…Read More trash. Kids SHOULD be taught to respect authority, including parents, teachers and yes, police officers. I know my kids do, and they won't be going to jail, joining a gang, or even posting anti-government crap on a simple Patch article.

Saving people's lives is their job, but when they cost people their lives, do they own up to it?…Read More They work by this rule... "NEVER RAT OUT YOUR BROTHER IN THE BROTHERHOOD, NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS". Scary to think, isn't it? According to Dept. of Labor Div. of Occupational Hazards, with the exception of 911, odds of a FF dying on the job is 3/10s of 1%, or 3 in 1,000. The odds of a P.C.O. dying on the job is 1.6% or 16 in 1,000, over 5 times more dangerous. Don't forget to thank your exterminator for risking' his/her life to kill yer critters.

This is a well set example of good parenting and a tight family unit. Awesome if I am thinking…Read More correctly her also has an older brother that my son interacted with in wrestling.

I think I am in the twilight zone. How can you think its ok for this creep to be around kids? Are…Read More you also going to have a shoe drive for him?

I wish I could attach a few photos to this. As I have stated above, I'm a band student at Joliet…Read More West. I have done my own little detective work and have found it impossible for this person to be Mr. Maro. I knew this whole story was fishy sounding and have absolutely no clue how they linked these accounts with him, but it just cannot be him. Almost all the posts would be time when he would be conducting in the band room & I know for a fact he isn't on his phone and so does the rest of the band. There is so much evidence that disproves this ridiculous story. Next time, don't believe everything you read or even see, quit being so gullible!

Anyone who admits to an attraction for the apparel of girls under 18-years-old, who states their…Read More shoes make him hot, who admits it gets him going, should not work around minors. Most of the replies in this thread are from children. They do not have the life experience or perspective of adults. That's why they have parents.
DoSiDo March 20, 2013 at 03:42 pm
if telling middle school and high school girls that they look sexy in their shoes is okay and noting…Read More that you would like to pleasure yourself onto a pair of shoes is someone that you want teaching your kids than fine but i sure as hell don't want someone like that around my kids. no adult should be trying to interact with kids online whether it be twitter, instagram or a message board. isn't that how "grooming" starts?
i applaud the person who turned this information over to the authorities to look into. it is unfortunate that it got leaked to the patch but what would you have said if this person sat on this information and something terrible happened? then everyone would be slamming her for not doing something with it.
J. Ann March 20, 2013 at 09:53 pm
@ doSiDo---Yeah, I agree. Whether or not he would eventually act out his fetishes and fantasies,…Read More it's not worth risking. Best to be wise and proactive in this case. It's not about judging, but about nipping some unwise behavior in the bud. Glad my teens are grown. And it's true---if something, God forbid, would have happened, you bet they'd heap the condemnation on the silent parents who "should have" spoken up!!
