Coach Arrested for Having Sexual Contact with 12-Year-Old Boy
Darrell Stephenson, who coached youth soccer in Plainfield and elsewhere, has been charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse.
A youth soccer coach who worked in Plainfield and elsewhere has been arrested for allegedly having sexual contact with a 12-year-old boy. Darrell J. Stephenson, 24, of Crest Hill, was taken into custody Friday night by the Will County Sheriff's Office and charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse, a Class 2 felony. He's being held in the Will County jail on $750,000 bond, according to a press release issued today. Sheriff's investigators conducted a weeklong investigation before arresting Stephenson, a soccer coach who worked with various local soccer programs in the Frankfort, Plainfield and Joliet areas. We cannot be too comfortable with any administrators or any other adults who spend continuous amounts of time with our children. We must teach them to be aware and respectful to their coaches and instructors, teachers and the like, but also what signs to look out for concerning pedophilia.
