You can take the man out of Indiana ...
An Indiana man hurled a beer can onto the track of Chicagoland Speedway in the middle of Saturday's Dollar General 300, police said. Jeremiah Schmittel, 30, of Whiting, Ind., was charged with reckless conduct in connection with the 3 p.m. incident at the Joliet racetrack. Schmittel threw a can of Miller Lite on the track while the race was under a caution flag, police said. For the second time this month, the village board boosted a business' liquor license.
Is Shorewood turning into some sort of Wild West whiskey town? For the second time this month, the village board boosted a business' liquor license so they could sell the hard stuff. Two weeks ago, the high-brow Wine Styles on Route 59 obtained an upgraded license to sell not just beer and the eponymous wine, but booze as well. At the Jan. 11 meeting where Wine Styles won its license to peddle more than wine, Mayor Rick Chapman explained that the shop was interested in selling "specialty liquors." On Tuesday night, the Target on Route 59 got approval to sell specialty liquors, and regular ones too. Target already had a license that let them sell beer and wine.
