Already, 190 people have registered for a 5K that will be held on Saturday, Nov. 10 to help raise money for Mike Assaf and his family. Assaf was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and is currently undergoing treatment. His wife, Anna is a stay-at-home mom and the couple, who lives in Plainfield, has four children. The youngest is less than a month old. "We want to help raise money to alleviate the stress," Jill Nehring, Assaf's co-worker at the high school said. Assaf has been out of work since September. "Anytime somebody is in need, we try to come up with anything we can to help them," Nehring said of the (Minooka Community High School) community. So we asked you to tell us your favorite place to celebrate St.Patrick's Day in Shorewood and apparently you don't have one. We provided you with a few local hotspots to choose from: Bullpen Sports Bar, Buffalo Wild Wings and The Crowd Around Me, and we even threw in Holy Family Church since, you know, St. Patrick is a saint and all that. And to top it off, we went so far as to invite you to nominate your own favorite St. Patrick's Day place. And you know what we got? That's right, we got nothing. Well, almost nothing. Someone did post a review of Buffalo Wild Wings, but it wasn't exactly what we'd call favorable. So you know what? We don't care.
