With only one dissenting vote, Shawn Walsh was selected to be Will County's new regional superintendent of schools. Walsh, who had been the assistant regional superintendent, was the only applicant for the job. He was nominated by his father, Will County Executive Larry Walsh, to succeed Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant, who was elected a state senator in November. The Will County Board concurred with Walsh's recommendation, with only board member Margo McDermed (R-Mokena) voting in opposition, according to a story in the Joliet Herald News.
