Frankfort Doc Accused of Groping Women Faces New Lawsuit

A Frankfort pediatrician accused by five women of sexually abusing them in his office has been sued by a sixth woman making startlingly similar claims.

A Frankfort pediatrician acquitted of charges he groped a Joliet woman in his office more than 10 years ago has been smacked with a lawsuit alleging he pulled the same stunt on another woman in 2011. The lawsuit claims Dr. Kishor Jain touched the mother of one of his patients "in a sexual fashion" and caused the woman "shock and horror." The woman had taken her child to Jain's office in the Hedges Clinic in August 2011 when he suddenly "grabbed (her) breasts with both of his hands while she was talking to him about her child." Jain said he remembers the woman, identified in the lawsuit as Jessica Schubbe, 29, of Manteno, but denies ever molesting her. "The accusation is completely false," Jain said. "The person has other problems and she's…

Dr. Arrogant Got His Smack: Mom Talk

We can weed out jerk doctors one mom at a time.

Sometimes doctors who are condescending just need a smack. When Grace was born, I met a pediatrician who deserved one. Come to find out, the hospital gave it to him. Link here to read the original story. Dr. Arrogant came into our lives when he didn't come into our room. That is to say that he was supposed to see Grace within 24 hours of birth. She was jaundiced, and I was naturally worried. When he finally did show up a day late, he said he was too busy. Then to prove he was indeed arrogant and not just having a bad day, when I asked him medical questions, he told me that was not for me to worry about. Rude words, several containing the letter F, remained unsaid. Instead, I complained to my obstetrician, who filed a complaint with the …

I'm very glad to hear that you brought this doctor's neglect to the attention of the administrator. As a nurse, I am often dismayed that patients treated poorly by their physician are very reluctant to stand up to their doctor. Each patient deserves to be treated with competence and respect by all their healthcare providers. I would like to clarify a point brought up by MidwestGal. Physician …   more ›

State Suspends Shorewood Doc Busted For Drugs

A Shorewood gynecologist who pleaded guilty to a felony drug charge earlier this year lost his license for 90 days.

The Shorewood doctor arrested last year on identity theft and drug charges lost his license for 90 days. Thomas Heggen, 56, was jailed in July 2011. He pleaded guilty to a single count of possession of a controlled substance earlier this year. In exchange for the guilty plea, a charge of identity theft and two counts of obtaining a controlled substance by fraud were dropped. Heggen was sentenced to two years probation. At his bond hearing in July, prosecutors spoke of going after his medical license. Heggen held onto his license but the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation suspended it for three months. The suspension was announced today. The IDFPR also put Heggen on an indefinite probation that will last at least …

Local Doctor Comes Home

The public is invited to open house on Wednesday to meet Dr. Valerie Voss at her new primary care office.

After providing health care in the villages of Africa with the Peace Corps, the experience gave Dr. Valerie Voss new insight as to how she wanted to practice medicine. “I think an experience like that changes your perception of the world and gives you a greater appreciation of all the resources we have here (in the U.S.) and enhances my desire to do community work here,” she said. Voss, a Will County native, chose to move home and open a primary care office for adults in Joliet. Her focus is for patients to feel calm and welcome, so they may partner with Voss and the medical team in order to focus on the patients’ overall health and wellness. One example is that the office environment will have a spa-like feel. Another is that Voss intends…
